PUSHKAR

The neighs and grunts welcomed me warmly into Pushkar and the hooves created a grand drape with dust and sand. When the drape lifted, the Pushkar act started with colourful turbans, sarees enjoying the flavours of the events happening around. I have seen the life and culture which is been surrounded with traditions like soul inside a body. A one week continuous tradition which ends with a full moon day is a great pleasure to watch, Pushkar is special as the full moon on the 14th November 2016 is going to be the biggest moon from past 70 years which I missed watching during Pushkar unfortunately.

After a 13 hour trip to Pushkar from my place, stayed and ate in a hotel and left to the Pushkar Lake from where my Pushkar hour started. The sun set at the holy Ghats is a striking view to watch. The yellow golden light falling on the lake with birds flying is a pleasant and calm scenery one can be peaceful after watching. People taking bath in the holy lake and get cleansed from their sins.

The Aarti’s are done by the priests with enchanting mantras with the ringing bells filled the whole place with vibrations of divinity which took people nearer to the world of god.

After taking some pictures in ghats we went back to our rooms and again went out for capturing some stars.

Went out to the mela ground where all the events of camels and horses are done. Tried to capture some portraits but got unlucky as I was unfortunately asking the people who aren’t interested to get captured while few portraits cost money, the streets and grounds of Pushkar are filled with photographers who wanted to capture each and every nano part of it. The whole place looks like a small world where many people from different countries came to witness one of the gigantic events of INDIA that happens once in every year.

The whole day I spent in the mela ground roaming here and there trying to understand and take pictures in which I wasn’t that succeeded. The tied animals are talking to each other in their own language may be about their pain created by their owners or may be about the crazy mad people who are around them taking pictures like they have never seen one and never going to see again or it is a camel call. The flock of camels and stud tied with ropes brought me a feeling of captivity and sadness in me.

The sunset behind the huge ground of camels and horses was a good scenic view for a photographer which i felt like an art of god.

The same night I went to the top of Savitri temple for obtaining a full view of pushkar and it was exiting the atoms of my spirits inside.  The next day I went before sunrise for watching the balloons get lifted but I sadly missed that too, but was lucky to watch the balloons fly high in the blue sky above the camel fare ground. While walking my eyes got attention to the big bigger biggest Murrah Bull's I have never ever seen till now, their size is huge and reminded me of Cretan bulls.

While i was returning from the ground i visited the ghats once more and started shooting there. I ended up in a place where the view was too good. While i was shooting a hand landed on my shoulder asking who i was and what i was doing there, to my surprise there were around 8 to 10 police officers patrolling around. They asked for my id cards, checked my pictures in the camera and told me that it is a restricted area and i shouldn’t be there at that time. They politely told me to go from that place, while leaving i have seen many women bahing in Pushkar Lake and then i understood why it was restricted, i apologized and left that place and returned back to our room, but that incident will never fade from my memories.

This excitement didn’t last for a long time as the time to leave half heartened came quick like a bullet from a gun. The 13 hour experience in the Pushkar fields is fabulous and unexplainable with memories, teachings, learning, happiness and excitement.
